Arlington, VA – July 15 – An unidentified 40-year-old man was sent to the hospital Sunday afternoon after being attacked by two pit bulls.
According to official reports by arlnow.com, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Walter Reed Drive and South Oakland Street.
Police said the man exited his truck when the two dogs immediately attacked him.
One of the man’s sons ran out of their house with a shoe to attempt to fend off the dogs.
Officials said the animals were gone by the time they arrived on the scene.
Police officers searching for the dogs shot one of them as it charged at them. The other pit bull was captured and taken to the Animal Welfare League.
The victim was taken to George Washington University Hospital for treatment of numerous puncture and bite wounds.
Authorities said he lost a lot of blood from the incident, but his injuries are considered non-life threatening.
The dogs’ owner has not yet been found. No charges have been reported at this time.
