Multiple models of Tots in Mind Inc. crib and play yard tents that were recalled back in 2010 are still a danger to consumers, reports The Washington Post.
The company first came out with a repair kit for the tents, but since then has gone bankrupt.
The crib tents have been sold through many online retailers, including Amazon.com, as well as stores like Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Burlington Coat Factory, and Bed Bath & Beyond (sold through the website Buy Buy Baby).
The tents pose a strangulation risk and there have been a total of twenty-seven tent failures since their release. One boy died in 2008 after he became trapped between the frame and the metal rod at the base of the tent. Another child suffered serious brain injury in 2007 when his crib inverted and he became trapped by the neck.
Around 330,000 units have been recalled so far.
