James City County, VA – June 14 – A 13-year-old girl was hospitalized Thursday night after being involved in a serious car accident around 8 p.m.
The accident occurred when the 56-year-old driver of a Ford Taurus ran a red light as she was heading east on Monticello Avenue, reports WAVY.com.
Upon doing so, the woman’s Ford Taurus was struck by a Ford pickup truck that was driven by a 39-year-old woman from Charles City.
As a result, the teenage girl was trapped inside.
She was flown to the Medical Center at Virginia Commonwealth University for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The two drivers were transported by ambulance to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
Police do not believe alcohol played a factor in the crash. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
