Isle of Wright, VA – June 4 – A man was killed Sunday night after crashing into a tree during a police chase.
The accident occurred after midnight when John Reid Laxton, 21, attempted to escape from police, who tried to pull him over for speeding, reports dailypress.com.
Police Sgt. Jeff Singleton said the officer pursuing Laxton had to pull back when “the chase reached dangerous speeds.”
The vehicle was found later after it crashed into a tree on Rainbow Road and went up in flames.
When police arrived, Laxton was still alive inside the vehicle but was suffering from severe burns.
Despite police efforts to pull him out, Laxton died inside the burning car.
