Lancaster, P.A. – May 21 – A Lancaster City toddler is currently recovering in a local area hospital after receiving a dog bite to the head on Sunday night, Lancaster City police officials confirm.
The attack occurred on the first block of South Water Street where the child’s family was watching a family friend’s pit bull.
The male victim, aged unknown, weathered a large wound to the back of his head and was transported to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Immediately following the attack, the pit bull was beaten to death by someone inside the house prior to the arrival of the police.
Lancaster City Police state that the dog was not vaccinated and its body was taken to PETS Animal Hospital where it will be examined for rabies.
