Virginia Beach, VA – May 7 – A suspect faced numerous charges on Monday following a fatal hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian dead back in January.
Ronald Lee Perkins, 38, who police believed was involved in a robbery on the night of the accident, took off when police spotted him and struck a man during the chase, reports WAVY.com.
The accident happened on the corner of Northampton Boulevard and Baker Road. Some police officials remained with the victim, Raymond Rogers, 49, while others continued to chase Perkins.
After finding the empty vehicle Perkins was initially driving, police dispatched canine units and a helicopter to assist Norfolk Police in finding him.
Perkins was found the next morning sleeping in a different vehicle on Bertha Street. He has been charged with second-degree murder, eluding police, endangerment, and hit-and-run with personal injury charges.
