A voluntary recall is underway of defective folding deck chairs made by West Marine that do not hold the stated weight capacity, reports UPI.com.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission publicized the recall of around 1,200 folding deck chairs, sold for approximately $70 across the U.S. from February 2012-May 2012. West Marine Products Inc. imported the defective products from China.
West Marine was alerted to six incidents of their deck chairs collapsing, but no one has yet to be injured by the defect.
The recalled models are part of West Marine Deluxe Deck Chairs brand, and have light-colored wooden armrests and metal legs.
The model number of the defective chairs is “13110341,” printed on a paper tag connected to the frame.
If you own this defective product, you are advised to stop using it immediately and call West Marine at 800-262-8464 to receive store credit or a full refund, or return the chair to any West Marine outlet for credit or a refund.
