Arlington, VA – June 5 – A bicyclist was sent to the hospital Tuesday morning after being struck by a car.
According to official reports by ARLnow.com, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of George Washington Parkway.
Authorities said this is an area that has seen many “tragic accidents” and “close calls” between vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians.
U.S. Park Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Brooks said the bicyclist was conscious and breathing after the incident but was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance.
According to Brooks, the area is “confusing” and cyclists and pedestrians are urged to stop and double check if the road is clear before proceeding through the intersections.
No charges have been filed at this time.
