Anastasia Piatkowski is a medical records coordinator at the Parrish Law Firm. She has dedicated her life to helping others, and she lives by her personal tagline: “Treat people the way you want to be treated.” On this page, you can learn more about Anastasia’s career path as well as get insight into what motivates her every day.
Anastasia started her legal career at the Fairfax County Courthouse. She later went to work for Travelers Insurance as a member of their staff counsel office and worked there for over 10 years before deciding to change career paths.
A “tomboy” at heart, Anastasia decided to pursue a new career in the personal fitness industry. She got her personal training certification and started her own personal training company, combining her love of sports, fitness and helping people. She is also certified as a group fitness and indoor cycling instructor. She has worked with both adults and kids, with kids being her favorite population and has fond memories of coaching little league baseball and basketball teams through the years.
After suffering from a few sports (and age) related injuries, she decided to semi-retire from personal training and resume her legal career. Anastasia interviewed for the position of medical records coordinator for the Parrish Law Firm. “I appreciated the fact that it was a family-run firm, and I liked the idea of working in a small, team-focused organization,” she said about interviewing with Jim Parrish. Both Jim and Anastasia shared a love of fitness and sports, and she was drawn to that commonality as well.
“I started working for Jim and love it. They’ve treated me well over the years. I have had to take some time off to take care of my family, and the Parrish Law Firm always was happy to give me the time I needed and welcomed me back when I was ready to work again.”
Anastasia’s job title at the firm is “medical records coordinator.” After the case manager completes intake and verifies treatment information with the client, they contact Anastasia to collect medical records, information on treating providers, and medical expenses, which the team uses in case preparation. Additionally, Anastasia is responsible for obtaining other injury records and prior injuries, reviewing the records, and identifying any other pertinent information that the attorney should be aware of in the case. When Anastasia has all the records, she sends her report to the litigation team.
Medical records collection and research is an essential component of a successful personal injury case. This research allows lawyers to access the necessary evidence needed to prove their client’s claim. By collecting medical records, attorneys can gain insight into the treatment received by the injured party, as well as any prior injuries that may be relevant to the case.
Anastasia is driven to ensure that each case she works on is handled accurately and efficiently. Her dedication shines through her work, and her enthusiasm for helping others can be heard in how she talks about her role within our law firm.
