Manassas, V.A. – Mar. 7 – A Prince William County man has been charged with a DUI, a hit-and-run and reckless driving, amongst other charges, stemming from a crash that occurred over the weekend.
John Marc Mayhew, 33, of Manassas, was involved in a single-vehicle accident on the 7000 block of Trappers court in the Buckhall area on the evening of March 4, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok confirmed. Mayhew was subsequently held without bond and has a scheduled court appearance on April 12.
Just prior to the crash, Mayhew was involved in two separate altercations with two Manassas home owners. The first victim, an unidentified man, claimed that Mayhew attempted to enter his home, and then exchanged words with him. When the man refused to become physical with Mayhew as he had requested, Mayhew fled his property. The second victim, an unidentified woman, said that Mayhew also tried to break into her apartment and attacked her outside of her residence when she tried to escape.
According to local official records, this is not Mayhew’s first run-in with the law. On October 5, 2011, Mayhew was charged with unlawful entry, assault on law enforcement officer, and public intoxication after he entered the home of a Manassas resident and confronted the occupant. While resisting arrest, Mayhew spat in the officer’s face.
