Virginia Insurance Accident/Injury Lawyer James Parrish wants you to know that 90-year-old Arlene Hull has been awarded $34.2 million from her Omaha, Nebraska insurance company, Ability Insurance Co. The award comes after she and her daughter sued the company for ending Ms. Hull’s assisted-living benefits for her dementia care, reports the Yahoo! News.
Ability Insurance Co. reported in 2010 that Ms. Hull no longer qualified after a review discovered that she was not in need of constant supervision because of a cognitive impairment and that she was only moderately impaired.
Mike Abourezk, Ms. Hull’s attorney, confirmed that the company had misinterpreted the policy and misused the system.
Ms. Hull has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease since 2007, and while she could not testify, a jury viewed her on video.
