Chesterfield County, VA – May 21 – A chocolate lab named Marley was sent to the vet after being involved in a bizarre attack by a pit bull.
Official reports by NBC12.com said the attack happened when Zeus, the pit bull, spotted a teenage girl walking her dog outside and jumped from a second story window.
The girl was able to escape the attack with no injuries, but Marley received eight stitches.
Marley’s owner, Melinda Hodges, said she fears not only for her daughter and dog, but also for her neighbor’s children and pets.
“We love our animals, but there’s nothing more important than our children,” Hodges said. “That’s the scary part, he tried to bite my daughter.”
Zeus’ owner, Travis Hamme, said the dog is not dangerous and was probably antsy from being cooped up in the house after undergoing a recent surgery.
Hamme also said that measures have been taken to ensure the dog won’t escape from his house again. He plans to pay for Hodges’ medical bills as well.
According to reports, the Chesterfield Animal Control could not issue a ticket to Hamme because they did not witness the incident.
Hodges is considering taking this case to court.
