The pedestrian death of a woman in Occoquan, VA has led to reckless driving and insufficient tire tread depth charges for a young Lake Ridge man, reports InsideNova.com.
Woodbridge resident Zenaida Ines Jimenez, 58, was walking her dog on the sidewalk of Old Bridge Road, near Clipper Drive, at around 9:40 a.m. on Oct. 12, when Mohamed-Kareem Mohamed, 21, of Lake Ridge, lost control of his 1998 BMW because of its bald tires. The vehicle jumped the curb onto the sidewalk and struck Jimenez.
Jimenez was transported to a nearby hospital, but died of her injuries shortly afterwards. The family dog, which was uninjured, was given to other family members.
Mohamed is facing a reckless driving charge, and a charge of driving with insufficient tire tread depth. He was held on $10,000 bond, and a court date has been scheduled for Dec. 10.
